In conjunction with the Goldmine Record Show, regarded as the premier record show for the collectors and the curious, VRD will be celebrated on August 2nd and 3rd at the outdoor plaza of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We are very proud that in its second year VRD is being recognized by the national record collecting publication Goldmine and hope this and the August 16th San Luis Obispo celebration encourages music lovers across the country to participate and have a home Vinyl Record Day celebration. See How to Participate for details.

In addition to record vendors from across the country, there's going to be vinyl music and all kinds of dancing in front of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to celebrate the vinyl record! We’re so excited we can’t stand it! As of this writing in early April planned activities for this festive event includes the music of Hall inductees played from their original LP’S and singles, Trivia, Spin, Dance and other contests for visitors to win prizes, an Album Cover Art exhibit, and, you know it’s coming, more. Coordinating with the Museum there are other exhibits planned, it is not yet known who the DJ’s will be but we hope to have some folks we are all familiar with.

The music will be played in chronological order and will feature Hall inductees from the performing, early influences, and non-performing categories enabling a wide variety including Blues, R&B, and Country to be a part of Vinyl Record Day.

The celebration will begin at 10:00 A.M. and end at 5:00 P.M.. Not to sound corny, but Vinyl Record Day really is a lot of fun. There’s great music variety, you can bear hug and no one will stop you, and teenage and college aged have a great time voting who the best is in the Spin Battle. Though it may sound cliché, there’s music and activities for everyone; grandparents to grandchildren whether in San Luis Obispo, Cleveland or your own home.

You can be a part of Vinyl Record Day in San Luis Obispo California on August 16th or at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio on the 2nd and 3rd.
